「水墨画」の魅力を発見

日曜日に行って参りました、大盛況の「長谷川等伯」展へ。開館時間5分前に自転車で国立博物館に乗りつけたものの、すでに続々と押し寄せている人の波。テレビなどで紹介されていることもあって、すごい人気です。これくらいでひるむものかと、チケットを買って最後尾に並びました。誰かが「7時半からもう並んでいてんだって」というのが聞こえてきました。天気がよかったので持参した本を読みながら、かれこれ４０分ほどでようやく入館。展示されている作品は仏画、屏風画、水墨画と多数ありましたが、私は水墨画に魅かれました。大作を少し離れて見ているとその風景がどこまでも広がっていくような感じを受けます。雪や鶴といった白いものを白い紙に描く、このことだけでも微妙な色使いです。この時代には狩野派が不動の地位を築いてましが、その大きな勢力に対しても戦いを挑んだという長谷川等伯の実力を物語っている作品の数々でした。

Weekend

We had a nice, lazy time last Sunday. I love pootling about between Hanzomon and Jimbocho. The weather was pretty good so we went to the Imperial Palace gardens. Although I mislayed my sense of direction (not unusual) and failed to locate the public entrance to start with and enjoyed a bonus walk around the perimeter. There are so many joggers, I feel myself becoming genki by some strange osmotic process. Later, in Jimbocho, I really enjoyed looking round the new and second hand book stores. I also tried the California Burger from MacDonalds-not quite as good as the Texas Burger for me-say 7 out of 10. I think you can really feel spring is on the way now-bringing with it the attendant hay fever season!

Kid’s volleyball fever!

My junior high school students are playing volleyball in their PE classes, so they wanted to learn how to play properly from me, which I thought was so sweet!
I thought them using my beach volley ball!!
They were so amazed to discover the proper ways of receiving and setting, but in the end, they could do it and said ” We’ll show off our techniques!”

They were so sweet!

知る人ぞ知る！？

最近、特に気に入っているテレビ番組・・・それは朝７：２５からの「クインテット」です。普通の人がニュースを見ているであろうこの時間、NHK教育TVではひかに素敵な音楽番組をやっているのです。　一応子供向けなのでスタイルは簡単にいうと“人形劇風”です。そして取り上げる曲は、どこかで耳にしたことのある曲や、そういえば子どもの頃歌ったなあという歌、またクラシックの名曲が必ず入るところも評価◎です。ただし、たったの１０分間なのでお見逃しなく！

British Food

I really miss fish and chips in Japan. the only time I’ve found authentic feeling fish and chips was in the John Lennon Museum in Saitama. Of course, the cafe (& soon the museum!) is now gone. Typical! I was excited to find a new online shop ‘Britstore’ however. I’ll definitely be loading up on my Walkers Salt & Vinegar crisps, mint flavour Aero and Strawberry Nesquik. Various people have said it’s difficult to find real Japanese food in Britain, which I’m sure is largely true: Whatever you do, don’t try the Marks and Spencer Miso Soup if you’re ever in Britain-whatever it was, it wasn’t miso!

Hello, again!

Today, Hisataka is unwell so, instead of him, I’m writing on this blog.

Yesterday, I phoned my Guamian friend because it was his birthday.
He was very happy to hear from me, but we didn’t have enough time to talk at length, so I’ll ring him again around the weekend.
Talking to him made me want to play beach volleyball!!!

Omotesando

Yesterday, I went to my sports gym in Omotesaondo. After that, my frinends and I decided to have dinner together. One of my friends is member of staff of that sports gym. He wanted to go to an Italian restaurant where he often goes, but he was working till 9 o’clock so he drew me a map for us to get there.
However, I have no sense of direction so of course I got lost! When we were wondering the way, somebody called my name loudly” Mina!” The person who called my name was a friend who I hadn’t met for a while. I was glad to see him so we asked each other how our life was. Then, stupidly I didn’t ask him how I could get to the restaurant! I thought I should ‘ve done that!
Anyway, after 15 minutes, we somehow found the restaurant! And when I opened the door, Surprise! Surprise! The friend who I bumped into on the street was there! We just couldn’t believe what a coincidence it was!
Needless to say, my friend couldn’t forget how little sense of direction I have!!!

Anyway, I had a great time there!
My friend used to be an actor but he’s a vocalist in a band. If you are interested in a kind of heavy sounding music, please check it out!

ネコの“フン害”

昨日はおひなまつり。たまたま友人と食事に出かけたホテルの一角に、ちゃーんと飾ってありました、７段の雛人形が。真っ赤なひな壇に、彩りを添える桃と菜の花。女の子の成長を祝うのにふさわしい、華やかな行事ですね。

最近の目下の悩みはネコのフンです。私の住んでいるのが一階で、ちょっとした庭に面しています。窓をあけてすぐの軒下、ここがどうやらネコ達の格好の用足し場所になっているようです。以前は袋入りの、ネコが嫌がる臭いの薬剤を置いてみましたが、雨が降ると濡れてしまい、使えません。また何日か前には１００円ショップで見つけたチクチクするマットを敷いてみました。適当に並べたのがいけないなかったのか、マットとマットの間にちゃっかりフンが・・・。この悪臭には耐えられません！　どなたかいい案があれば教えてくださーい。
