I’ve started practising the songs which we’re playing at our next event!

I wonder if our band members have started practising.

I bet Hiro has already started.

I think the next event will be more energetic!

再び那須へ！！

先週の日曜日に、2週連続でTheEnglishVillageのコーヒーをブレンドして頂いている珈琲工房へ、美奈と私は那須へ行って来ました。

那須の珈琲工房はとても居心地がよく、来ているお客さんも本当に鈴木先生の珈琲が好きなんだなぁと感じられます。鈴木先生とたくさんお話しさせて頂き、なんか色々と先生の情熱も貰えて、美味しい珈琲も頂き、とても素敵な時間でした。

その後、さいたま新都心で夜に打ち合わせがあったので、車で向かって、車にナビも地図もない私達は、那須への行き方を注意せよ！！で頭がいっぱいだったので、さいたま新都心へ向かうインターを間違えており、道に迷い、迷ったあげくに笑いが止まらなくなり、なんともおかしなドライブでした。そしてさいたま新都心へやっとたどり着き、まずビジネスホテルへ向かうのですが、ホテルの人の説明が下手で、駅からすぐのホテルなのに、さまよい迷子になりました。何回もホテルに電話してやっとたどり着きました。

打ち合わせをし、その後Minaと部屋で飲み、気付いたら朝6時半・・・うちららしい・・・

帰り道、さいたま新都心から高速に乗り、銀座方面に向かっているところで、銀座方面と、高井戸方面の2つの表示が・・

Mina「高井戸方面が気になる。高井戸方面だよね？」

Misato「（心の声）そうだっけ？？高井戸ってどこだっけ？」

Misato「高井戸・・・う・うん。」（自信がない）

そして私達は高井戸方面へ。これが帰りに迷子になるきっかけでした。高井戸方面へ向かって出てくる表示が、わからない・・・。でも何かが違う。あやしいぃぃぃぃぃぃ～～～。なぜか、名古屋まで何キロという表示が出た時点で、

Mina「絶対違うよ！！」

料金所で船橋方面への行き方を聞き、おじさんに反対側の高速だよと言われ、高速を降りなさいと言われたので、高速をおり、また高速に乗ろうとしているのに、下道をさまよう。

Mina「右と左の道とどっちだと思う？」

Misato「左」

Mina「私は右。でもいつも私の想像と正解が違うから、左に行こう。」

Mina「なんか観光地っぽくない？っていうかカンで走ってるんだけど。」

カンで前の車についていっても、らちがあかなかったので、おとなしくガソリンスタンドで高速の入り口を聞き、新宿方面を目指しかえってきました。

その時の出来事を、Minaと私は【高井戸事件】と呼ぶ・・・・・

★Neilのお誕生日会★

先週の土曜日、イングリッシュヴィレッヂのスタッフと、イングリッシュヴィレッヂバンドのメンバーで、Ｎｅｉｌのお誕生日会をしました！

久し振りに、全員で居酒屋へ行き、お誕生日おめでとう！と乾杯をし、あーでもないこーでもない、へぇ～～～そうなんだ！！など色々話しながら、各々みんなで楽しみました。

そんな中、掘りごたつな和室だったのですが、照明が暗くて見えにくいですが貴重なNiallの正座写真をどうぞ！

その後、NiallとMikiは先に帰り、Michaelは酔っ払ってタクシーで帰り・・・・・・

終電がない私たちは、朝5時までカラオケ大会に突入！！！

  熱唱するShuheiの巻き～。森山直太郎が似合う高音をBandで見れます！

そんな夜中も元気いっぱいなEnglishVillageBandが登場する、錦糸町の次回のイベントは8月9日土曜日19時～です。

まだ練習に入ってないですが、気合だけは十分！！カラオケで次に演奏する予定の曲でのHiroshiとShuheiのハモリはすでに完璧でした！ご期待して下さい！！

Snow in April

Unbelievably, it snowed in Birmingham (and elsewhere in England) recently, which is most unusual for April. Here are some photographs that my mother took from my parents’ house. Don’t the trees on the ‘island’ look beautiful!

Birthday Party

As you may already have read, it was my father’s 90th birthday a couple of weeks ago. Here’s a picture of his birthday cake, and another of him cutting it!

Bread and Butter Pudding (Again)

I asked my mother to send me the recipe she uses to make bread and butter pudding. Here it is:

Bread and Butter Pudding

Ingredients

• 6 slices buttered bread

• 25g sugar

• 50g sultanas

• 1 egg

• 300ml milk

• grated nutmeg (if liked)

Method

• Place the buttered bread slices in pairs (buttered sides together) and cut into triangles

• Place the triangles in a suitable dish, half overlapping, and sprinkling the sultanas between the slices

• Beat together the egg and milk and pour over the bread

• Sprinkle with the sugar and leave to stand for about half an hour and then bake in a preheated oven at 180C/160CFan for 30-40 minutes until set and golden brown

There are many variations of this recipe such as adding more sugar, replacing some of the milk with cream, adding candied peel etc, but this is the one I always use.

Washing

What a lovely day today!

Spring has come, I hope!

Because of the nice weather, Idid 2 lots of washing this morning!

Do you like doing the washing? Actually I do! cos it’s kind of refreshing somehow.

またまた。。。

またまた、電化製品が完璧壊れました!!!

昨日、イベントの曲を家のＨｉ－ｆｉで聴いていたら、でた～！歌がとぎれとぎれ！

最近、ＣＤをＨｉ－Ｆｉが調子悪かったのですが、昨日は完璧壊れました。寿命は１０年でした。やっぱり10年ですね！

But never mind! never mind! I’ll listen to it in my car!

Neil’s father’s birthday!

Neil’s father’s birthday was on the 3rd of April.

He became 90 years old!!! How wonderful!

I hope he will be able to live to at least 120 years old!!

Neil’s birthday!

Today is our principal’s birthday!!!

If you want to know how old he is now, ask him directly!

Tomorrow, our staff and English Village band members are gathering to celebrate his birthday!

Oh, come to think of it, we haven’t decided where to do that! I should do that…
