Weekend

We saw ‘Did You Hear About The Morgans?’ on Saturday. I was prepared to be underwhelmed (Hugh Grant’s had some clunkers-‘Mickey Blue Eyes’ and ‘American Dreams’ come to mind) but was pleasantly surprised. Big cheesy schmalz factor (no surprise there) but I’d say a good romcom, 8 out of 10. Hugh was just being Hugh (no surprise again) but I liked Sarah Jessica Parker and Sam Elliot was really good/funny. On an unrelated note, I must thank Yuriko for the Green Tea Caplico-simply marvellous! I live to discover new flavours of Caplico-Come on Glico, you can do a Raspberry version. Cherry would be good too, never understood why there isn’t a Sakura Caplico.

天気がよかったので愛犬ポッキーさんを連れて近くの公園に行きました。

桜がキレイでした。

 史跡

ここでは『茂呂遺跡』という約１万７千年前の旧石器時代の遺跡や、旧石器時代から平安時代にわたる複合遺跡『栗原遺跡の竪穴式住居跡』が発見されたそうです。

この写真は奈良時代初めの萱葺き家屋が復元されたものらしいです。

なんだか散歩にはまりそうです。

初めての目黒川

今年は初めて目黒川の桜を見に行きました。思っていた以上に素晴らしかったです！さほど大きくない川なので両側から桜が覆いかぶさるように枝を伸ばして咲き誇っていました。満開の桜の下は大勢の見物客で賑わい、その人の波に乗りながら川のほとりをそぞろ歩いてみました。隅田川の桜は見慣れていますが、こちらはまた全く違う風情で楽しめました。都内は桜の名所が多く、今度は千鳥ヶ淵にも行ってみたい、などと早くも来年に思いを馳せたのでした。

My mobile phone

Hello, everybody! Listen!!! At the beginning of last week, I dropped my mobile phone in a toilet, I’m ashamed to say…..

The thing I’m more ashamed about was the fact that that was the third time I had done it!!!
I had to recognise how scatter-brained I was.
By the way, the last time I did it was less than one year ago…
I’m unbelievably scatter-brained, aren’t I?

We saw some good cherry blossom over the weekend, in Kinshicho Park and other places. But I’ve got to say this is not ideal weather for cherry blossom parties/viewing-still too cold and windy! Although I do appreciate the Jaga Butter stalls that pop up!

春を彩る桜

この季節になると店頭でこれ見よがしに並んでいる桜グッズ、可愛らしくてついつい買ってしまいます。

スイーツも大好き！お店は和も洋も桜のお菓子でカラフルですよね。

今年は花冷えが多かったですが、今週末が見所みたいです。

桜のお菓子をもってお花見に行こうかなぁと思います。

春、間近です

　今日はとても暖かくなりました。今週末は花見にもってこいでしょうね。今年はどこで楽しみましょうか・・・。例年、上野公園の夜桜見物には行っていましたが、昼間にしっかりと桜を愛でたいものです。目黒川沿いや新宿御苑あたりも行ってみたいなぁ、と思っています。話題の東京スカイツリー見学を兼ねて、隅田川のほうも今年は賑わいそうでね。

Yurikoさんのパウンドケーキはとーぉっても美味しそうでした！私がブログに書いたバナナがこんなにおしゃれに変身するとは・・・。感激です！

Sherlock Holmes

I saw the new film at the weekend. Dark, fantastic hokum-a definite thumbs up from me. Really taken with Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law as Holmes and Watson. I’ve always enjoyed the stories since reading Conan Doyle’s originals as a teenager. My all time favourite characterisation has got to be the Jeremy Brett and David Burke/Edmund Hardwicke TV series but the new film versions run them close for me. I like the old black and white films with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce as well. I love the bumbling (massive IQ drop!) Bruce version of Watson. Hoping to see the new Tim Burton ‘Alice’ when it’s out too, the trailers look great.
